Shelf Sizing & Weight Capacities
Our steel industrial metal shelving comes in a variety of standard sizes:
- 36” – 48” wide
- 18” – 24” deep
We have various available gauges of steel to hold up to 250 – 600 lbs. The right gauge for you will depend on the items you store. For instance, if you sell tile flooring, you’ll want the highest weight gauge available. If you stock plastic automotive parts, weight may not be as much of a concern.
Shelving Styles
The two standard ways that steel industrial shelving is assembled are clip style and nut and bolt, although there are other varieties available as well. Here’s a little more information about each type:
Clip-Style Shelving
Clip-style shelving, sometimes called clip-bolt shelving, uses a number of metal clips that fit into pre-cut slots along the uprights or columns of the metal shelving unit. This design allows you to easily adjust the shelves’ height by moving the clips up or down to different slots. It’s a tool-free assembly, making it quick and flexible for various storage needs. The shelves simply rest on the clips, which can make reconfiguration and assembly quite efficient. Since this style is easy to install and change as your storage needs change, it’s ideal for businesses searching for versatile solutions.
Nut and Bolt Shelving
Nut and bolt shelving, as its name suggests, involves utilizing nuts and bolts to secure the shelves to the uprights. This type of steel shelving typically requires tools for assembly and is more time-consuming to put together and adjust. However, it tends to provide a more stable and sturdy structure, making it more suitable for heavier loads.
